Album Notes La Bouche: Melanie Thornton, Lane McCray (vocals). Additional personnel: Kazuhiko Gomi (keyboards, programming); P.J. Wilder, Wonder-Cobra (programming); Joan Faulkner, Linda Rocco, Freda Goodlett (background vocals). Producers: FMP (tracks 1, 3-4, 6, 8-10); Brenner, Saraf, FMP (tracks 2, 5, 11, 13); Brenner, Saraf (tracks 7, 14); FMP, Darrin Friedman (track 12). Engineers: Bernd Berwanger, Tobias Freund (tracks 1-11, 13-14); Vaughn Merrick (track 12). All songs co-written by G.A. Saraf or G. Mart except "I'll Be There" (I. Karmann/F. Weber), "Fallin' In Love" and "Fallin' In Love (Spike Mix)" (Dan Hamilton/Ann Marie Hamilton). The booklet for this disc contains a drawing of a huge mechanical gear, and that about sums up La Bouche's approach to dance music. This is relentless, machine-made music, the kind that has always (and will always) filled the world's dance floors with sweating, churning bodies. It's not entirely synths and sequencers, though. Melanie Thornton throws a soulful element into the mix--her solid voice. It rides on top of the incessant disco stomp of the hit "Sweet Dreams" (heavily borrowed from Eurythmics), and winds around the sinewy remake of the ubiquitous '70s smash "Fallin' in Love" (originally done by Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds). Yes, thanks to La Bouche, the beat goes on...and on...and on.
