Movie Description From the director of THE DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION and WAYNES WORLD comes this tale of a group of runaway -- collectively called "The Rejected" -- punks with spikey hair and strange clothes who move into a condemned suburban development and almost immediately find trouble. They become the target of "Citizens Against Crime," a group consisting mainly of laid-off GM workers. Features live performances by T.S.O.L., The Vandals, and DI.
Synopsis "Suburbia" is director Penelope Spheeris's study of the Los Angeles punk rock scene in the early 1980s.
The story focuses on a disenchanted teenager named Evan who falls in with "The Rejected - TRs," a group of punks who live as squatters in an abandoned shack by the side of the highway. Evan and his younger brother leave their broken home in an attempt to escape their alcoholic father. With the TRs, the boys find companionship and a strange kind of harmony. But this peaceful idyll comes to an end, when a local vigilante group decides that their neighborhood problems are the punks' fault and tries to drive the group out of the neighborhood.
