Album Notes The 2001 edition of STOMP 442 contains 4 bonus tracks. Anthrax: John Bush (vocals); Charlie Benante (guitar, E-Bow, drums, bongos, chimes, sound effects); Scott Ian (guitar, percussion, shaker, sound effects, background vocals); Frank Bello (4- & 12-string basses, background vocals); Additional personnel includes: Paul Crook, Dimebag Darrell, Mike Tempesta (guitar). Engineers: The Butcher Brothers, Dirk Grobelny, Ian Cross. Recorded at Studio 4, Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. Includes liner notes by Anthrax. Digitally remastered by Eddie Schreyer (Oasis Mastering, Studio City, California). 1995's STOMP 442 was Anthrax's second album with singer John Bush, and first after the band sacked lead guitarist and founding member Dan Spitz (Pantera's Dimebag Darrell fills in on a few tracks). The sound continues in the straight-ahead metal direction of its predecessor, the 1993 hit SOUND OF WHITE NOISE--Anthrax strips down many of the songs to their heavy-metal core with no fancy trappings to dull the rage and power. "Fueled" and "American Pompeii" prove that the recent lineup changes hadn't dulled the group's desire to rock furiously. The no-frills metal sound of STOMP 442 would be continued on Anthrax's next album, 1998's VOLUME EIGHT: THE THREAT IS REAL.
