Movie Description This meditative film from Chinese director Jia Jhang Ke follows the parallel quests of two characters: a miner looking for his wife, and a nurse searching for her husband. Taking place in a small town about to be buried beneath the flow of the Three Gorges Dam, STILL LIFE's loosely structured narrative and evocative photography offer an intriguing portrait of China's quickly changing way of life.

4 stars out of 5 -- "[T]his is as much a record of an unsought twilight as a narrative drama..." Empire - Patrick Peters (03/01/2008)
