Synopsis
This tragic space opera is the novelization of the long-awaited third film in the Star Wars prequel sequence which began with THE PHANTOM MENACE. The Separatists' deadly destroyer droids hammer mercilessly at the fading strength of the Republic, and the Republic's most noble defenders, the psychically gifted Jedi Knights, are no longer in such high regard. As the Republic hurtles to its doom, powerful, ambitious, and profoundly troubled Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker responds to the sinister promptings of Supreme Chancellor (future Emperor) Palpatine and turns to the Dark Side of the Force, becoming the Star Wars saga's most notorious villain, Lord Darth Vader of the Sith.
