Synopsis
During the Depression, a rural black family deeply attached to the forest on their land tries to save it from being cut down by an unscrupulous white man., Each morning Cassie Logan opens her bedroom window to listen to the sound of the trees that surround her family's house. What everyone else thinks is just the wind, Cassie knows is really the trees singing to her. When the Depression forces Cassie's father to go far from home to look for work, a cruel businessman takes advantage of Cassie's grandmother and tricks her into selling the trees.
