Movie Description Tyrone Power stars as Benjamin Blake in this inspired adaptation of Edison Marshall's story of high romance and dangerous escapades in 18th-century Britain and the South Seas of the Pacific. As a boy--played by the young Roddy McDowall--Benjamin is disinherited from his dukedom by his nefarious uncle, Sir Arthur Blake (George Sanders), who mistreats his nephew constantly. When Sir Arthur finds Benjamin in the arms of his attractive daughter, Isabel (Frances Farmer), Blake beats Benjamin cruelly, forcing him to run off on a cargo ship headed to India. Once aboard, he is befriended by Caleb Green (John Carradine), and the two comrades jump ship and swim to an elysian Polynesian island, where the young nobleman's luck begins to change. He dives for pearls and gems and finds love at the hands of a beautiful islander (Gene Tierney) while anxiously awaiting a chance to return to England for revenge. The estimable cast of this classic Hollywood adventure is handled with subtlety and grace by sure-handed director John Cromwell (LITTLE LORD FAUNTLEROY, THE PRISONER OF ZENDA).
Synopsis An illegitimate son of a deceased English noble escapes to sea to plot his revenge against his uncle, only to be sidetracked by a love affair with a comely South Seas islander.
