Synopsis In her previous book, SOMETHING BORROWED, Emily Giffin told the story of Rachel, a "Plain Jane" who somehow stole the fiancé of her gorgeous best friend, Darcy. In this semi-sequel, Giffin resumes the story from Darcy's point of view, to see how she deals with trying to have a baby without the support of her former best friend and her almost-husband. Darcy heads to London, where another friend offers shelter and support, but her earnest attempts to resume her former glamorous lifestyle inevitably fall flat. Eventually, Darcy realizes that she has to surrender some of her illusions if she ever hopes to nurture a child through the trials of life. Giffin shows off her sharp wit and her ability for startling insight by taking the least sympathetic character from her previous book and making readers root for her to get back on track. SOMETHING BLUE is the cream of the chick-lit crop.
