Movie Description
SLIDERS, a smart, mid-1990s sci-fi series follows a group of acquaintances who become thrown from one alternate dimension to another because of a malfunctioning invention. San Franciscan Quinn Mallory (Jerry O'Connell) has devoted his life to physics, and works on his own experiments when not studying for his university courses. His latest invention works on the concept of a wormhole, intended to transport a person between dimensions. When he invites his professor and a friend to witness a demonstration, everything goes awry, and the wormhole pulls in Quinn, his friend Wade (Sabrina Lloyd), Professor Maximillian Arturo (THE LORD OF THE RINGS' John Rhys-Davies), and an innocent bystander, washed-up singer Rembrandt "Crying Man" Brown (Cleavant Derricks). As the group struggles to find a way home, they find themselves in various incarnations of San Francisco--still the same city, but with completely different people and political and cultural situations. The ensuing mix of adventure, time travel, and "alien" encounters brings together the best aspects of the sci-fi genre and makes for a fast-paced, involving series.
