Movie Description
When a mischievous prank goes awry, a group of Hell's Kitchen juveniles are sent to a reform institution where they experience repeated, brutal sexual assaults by the sadistic "caretakers." Two decades later, a pair of the now-grown victims spots their chief tormenter and promptly executes him, setting in motion a trial in which their crime takes a back seat to the exposure of their former abuses. Based on the controversial, purportedly true novel by Lorenzo Carcaterra. Academy Award Nominations: Best Original Dramatic Score.

Synopsis
The film adaptation of Lorenzo Carcaterra's best-selling (and controversial) book that explores themes of friendship and revenge.
In New York, 1967, teenage buddies John, Tommy, Michael and Shakes commit a petty crime and are sent to reform school. There, they are repeatedly raped and abused by Nokes, a despotic guard. Years later, in 1981, John and Tommy (now lowlife criminals) happen upon Nokes, and brutally kill him in front of witnesses.
Michael and Shakes will do anything to save their lifelong friends. For Michael, a lawyer, this means prosecuting the pair -- with the intention of LOSING the case. For Shakes, it means asking an old friend, a priest, to lie on the witness stand.
But only time will tell if these actions help the accused get away with murder...
