Synopsis Peter De Jonge, who honed his skills in the thriller genre as one of James Patterson's co-writers, introduces Detective Darlene O'Hara of the NYPD, who seems destined to star in her own successful series of suspense novels, à la Patterson's Alex Cross. In her debut, O'Hara is out to solve the murder of a promising young student named Francesca Pena, whose glowing reputation masked her secret life as an escort and a stripper. Despite an accumulating pile of evidence against Pena's ex-boyfriend, O'Hara defies her arrogant boss and continues her determined search for the truth, eventually uncovering a seedy world of sexual treachery and deceit.

Industry Reviews "Peter de Jonge is best known for having co-written three of James Patterson's bestsellers, but we are going to forgive him that....[He] proves, with his first solo novel, that he can write first-rate crime fiction....When the crime-fiction aficionados set out to pick their best first novel of the year, SHADOWS STILL REMAIN will be a contender."
