SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.
The fact that Monty Python alumnus Eric Idle takes partial conceptual credit for SEUSSICAL should tip you off to the fact that the ample comic potential of a Dr. Seuss musical is fully exploited here. Many of the characters from Dr. Seuss's classic books are given the sonic spotlight in SEUSSICAL.
Horton the elephant, the Cat In The Hat, and the Whos from the famed Grinch tale are all represented in song. All the strange creatures from the Seuss kingdom are given a full-fledged Broadway treatment here. Fans of big-production Broadway musicals with all the stops pulled out should enjoy SEUSSICAL, regardless of their familiarity with the source material.
