Synopsis In the mid-1970s, Thomas Keneally had no idea who Oskar Schindler was; he had written a novel about the Civil War, CONFEDERATES, and when a promotional venture brought him to California, he serendipitously met Leopold Poldek Pfefferberg, who survived the Holocaust because of Schindler. The two traveled the world collecting stories from as many survivors as possible, an effort which culminated in the 1982 publication of SCHINDLER'S LIST, which earned Keneally the Booker Prize. Keneally recounts the book's creation and the impact it made on his life, as well as the unforgettable experience of recording the stories of Holocaust survivors.
