Movie Description
A fraudulent psychic medium bullies her spineless husband into kidnapping a child so that she may become famous by revealing the hiding place during a faked trance. Academy Award Nominations: Best Actress--Kim Stanley.
Synopsis
A crazy psychic, who believes she has never been given the professional recognition she deserves, forces her weak, asthmatic husband to kidnap the small child of a wealthy family in order to divine the child's whereabouts in a trance, and gain credibility.
Film Notes
During the shooting, Attenborough developed kidney stones and could not work for an entire day. As the production was on a strict budget and shooting could not be held up, during one of the scenes, which involved carrying the girl, director Bryan Forbes got into costume and makeup and substituted for Attenborough. The scene was shot at Forbes' home, Seven Pines, in Surrey.
