Movie Description Marlon Brando is an American serviceman on leave in Japan during the Korean War who discovers that his long-distance relationship with his fiancee has faltered. He soon finds that he has fallen in love with a Japanese entertainer (Miko Taka), despite the policies and standards set by the American government. Based on James Michener's best-selling novel.
Synopsis Gruver, an Army major during the Korean War, finds that his relationship with his fiancee has soured. So when he meets an alluring Japanese performer, he happily allows romance to blossom. But the military, and society in general, don't look kindly on an interracial relationships, and the lovers must constantly contend with distrust and prejudice.
Then a tragedy befalls Gruver's buddy Joe and his Japanese wife -- and suddenly he wonders whether his love can withstand the hardships to come.
