Movie Description
Cult film director Joe Dante (GREMLINS, INNERSPACE) helmed RUNAWAY DAUGHTERS, starring Paul Rudd and Julie Bowen. The film was produced as part of the Showtime Network's Rebel Highways series, which featured remakes of drive-in B-pictures from the postwar era. Bowen plays Angie, the leader of three girls who steal a car to escape their home lives and become part of the youth rebel movement of the 1950s. Whereas the original film was a gritty and serious crime picture, Dante takes his remake in a new direction, emphasizing a tongue-in-cheek humor that examines B-movies with the benefit of hindsight.
