"Try Again" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
The soundtrack to the film ROMEO MUST DIE, besides furthering the cause of the movie, offers listeners an attractive grab bag of modern R&B and hip-hop from a variety of artists. Aaliyah's "Try Again" features some of the most delectable analog synth sounds this side of Kraftwerk, while "Come Back in One Piece," her collaboration with rapper DMX is an effective blend of R&B and hip-hop over a propulsive funk backing track. Timbaland and Magoo's "We at It Again" features the pair's frenetic rhymes over kinetic beats that achieve some measure of rhythmic innovation. To the potential disappointment of Robert Palmer fans, Ginuwine's "Simply Irresistible" is not a cover of the pop crooner's smash hit. To the delight of R&B aficionados, however, the track is a characteristically carnal expression of contemporary soul as only Ginuwine can offer.
