Album Notes Personnel includes: Rick Danko, Ron Wood, Richard Manuel, Doug Sahm, Garth Hudson, Robbie Robertson, Eric Clapton, David Paich, Levon Helm, Blondie Chaplin, Gerry Beckley. All tracks have been digitally remastered. Rick Danko was a musician and songwriter of note prior to his sporadic solo career. Besides being the voice behind some of The Band's most affecting songs ("It Makes No Difference") he also penned the seminal Band tune "This Wheel's on Fire" (with Bob Dylan.) By the time of this self-titled album, The Band was history, and Danko's future was uncertain. That could be Danko's reason for loaded the deck with an array of such heavy hitters as Eric Clapton, Ron Wood, and every former Band member when he recorded his debut album. Their contributions are noteworthy but may have not been necessary, as Danko has assembled an impressive set of songs that stand on their own strength. "Brainwash," "Java Blues," and "Sip the Wine" could all fit seamlessly into The Band's impressive catalogue.
Industry Reviews ...An inspired writing collaboration of rolling and rockin' funk....the music sounds like outakes from a late period Band album... Mojo (08/01/2000)
