Movie Description A big budget comedy based on the diminutive Harvey Comics character to whom money is no object. But all of Richie's wealth can't buy him true friends--he'll have to earn them while saving his family from the machinations of archnemesis Laurence Van Dough.
Synopsis Richie Rich has found his niche: his family is worth billions, Reggie Jackson is his batting coach, and Claudia Schiffer is his personal trainer. There's a McDonalds in his mansion. But Richie's riches bring two glitches: he doesn't have any playmates, and vile villain Laurence Van Dough wants to take over the family fortune -- by doing away with the lad's mom and dad. Richie's itch for friends is solved by his servant Cadbury, who finds some "regular" kids who are eager to enjoy Richie's extravagant playthings. So when Richie's parents need to be saved from Van Dough, these new friends don't ditch Rich but will their rescue mission go off without a hitch?

Industry Reviews "...Larroquette offers a generous slice of well-seasoned hamminess....Hyde is even better as the very proper Cadbury..." Variety - Joe Leydon (01/02/1995)
"...RICHIE RICH presents an irresistible Macauley Culkin in a wonderful part and bursts with the gadgetry that many adults thrill to as much as children..." Los Angeles Times - Kevin Thomas (12/21/1994)
"...The movie is amusing....The movie has the lightness of a 1930s fantasy and none of the hamhanded obviousness of many modern movies about kids..." Chicago Sun-Times - Roger Ebert (12/21/1994)
