Album Notes This Limited edition of QUIZAS includes a DVD disc. Personnel includes: Enrique Iglesias (vocals); Ramon Stagnaro (acoustic guitar); Rusty Anderson, Michael Thompson (electric guitar, nylon string guitar); Lester Mendez (keyboards, programming); Reggie Hamilton (bass); Richard Bravo (bongos); Lee Levin (drums); Wendy Pederson, Raul Midon (background vocals). Producers: Enrique Iglesias, Lester Mendez, Rafael Perez Botija. QUIZAS won the 2003 Latin Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Album. Look, up in the sky! It's Ricky Martin! It's Marc Anthony! No stupid, it's Enrique Iglesias! For those who concentrate only on image, it might be tempting to lump Iglesias in with his aforementioned Latin pop peers, but no great understanding was ever achieved through judging a book by its cover. Iglesias is possessed of neither the crass do-or-die hooks populating Martin's albums nor the trad/pop mix offered by Anthony. What QUIZAS ultimately makes clear is that Iglesias isn't a self-consciously "Latin" pop artist awkwardly grafting the rhythms of his native Spain to Anglified pop. Rather he's simply a Hispanic artist who makes pop records for all the world to hear. QUIZAS finds Iglesias' emotive tenor backed by everything from lush strings to R&B synths, hip-hop drum loops, and syncopated synthesizers. Yet it's all of a piece, in the end it's all simply, how you say, Enrique.
