Album Notes Producers include: Rob Zombie, Charlie Clouser, Rick Rubin, John King, Perry Farrell. Engineers include: Charlie Clouser, Dave Sardy, Rob Seifert. Some love him, some hate him, but either way celebrities and freaks of every stripe flock to Howard Stern like sailors to a strip joint. So it goes without saying that the soundtrack to PRIVATE PARTS, the highly successful Stern biopic, would attract a most interesting and newsworthy mix of artists. On it, AOR stalwarts like Deep Purple, Cheap Trick and Van Halen cross paths with younger turks like Green Day and Marilyn Manson. Although the most interesting pairing is an uncredited LL Cool J fronting the Red Hot Chili Peppers (on a hardcore funk tune, "I Make My Own Rules"), Stern's own musical collaborations prove just as intriguing. He teams up with Rob Zombie for the menacing techno grind of "The Great American Nightmare," and with sampling gurus the Dust Brothers on "Tortured Man." On the latter song, the self-proclaimed "Anti-Christ" whispers his way through a collage of hilarious sound-bites from his radio show.
Industry Reviews ...This soundtrack to Stern's upcoming biopic is predictably anchored by contemporary...and classic rock. More interesting are the inspired collaborations (LL Cool J with Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stern with the Dust Brothers)... - Rating: A-
