While the material isn't up to the standards of his earlier tracks recorded for MCA, Williams still managed to apply his mellow delivery to a few quality tunes; some sounding more adult contemporary than country. Amongst the chart-topping tracks are "Heartbeat in the Darkness," "We've Got a Good Fire Going," "I Wouldn't Be a Man," and "Old Coyote Town." In 2004 the bonus track "Señorita," a Top Ten hit in 1987, was tacked on to the previous lineup. Still, the best package spanning all Williams' hits throughout his career is Hip-O's Don Williams Anthology. ~ Al Campbell
