Movie Description
POPULAR, like many of its contemporary teen comedies on TV and in film, takes the social structure of high school seriously, and examines it satirically to reveal its absurdities and how it is ultimately little different from the world of adults. Sadly, the series was critically acclaimed but never managed to attract the viewers it needed to last more than two seasons. In episodes 9 through 15 of the second and final series, Brooke deals with her anorexia, while Nicole and Carmen both face the pain of alcoholic parents. Other major dramas that emerge include suicide and a fatal car accident, along with the less serious high school dramas of cheerleading, dances, and dating. Movie star Ann-Margret guest stars in a particularly funny episode.
