PLAYLIST: THE BEST OF THE BANGLES samples tracks from the all-girl band's three 1980s albums. The only group from the Los Angeles Paisley Underground scene to hit it big, the Bangles dealt in super-poppy melodies, jangly guitars, and smooth vocal harmonies, all of which are well-represented here. This package features all the big hits ("Manic Monday," "Walk Like An Egyptian," "Eternal Flame") as well as a few choice cover versions (Big Star's "September Gurls" is a highlight). PLAYLIST serves as great introduction to the Bangles' exquisitely crafted, retro-pop sound.
