Movie Description Based on the memoirs of Jerry Stahl, a successful TV writer who was reduced to working at a McDonalds' drive-thru window by his crippling addiction to heroin. Ben Stiller gives an acclaimed performance as Stahl in this gritty film ripe with darkly comedic moments. Stahl himself has a cameo as a drug counselor.
Industry Reviews "...Stiller's restless, haunting power makes PERMANENT MIDNIGHT impossible to shake..." Rolling Stone - p.76 - Peter Travers
"...Good performances from Elizabeth Hurley and others..." USA Today - p.13E - Mike Clark
"...[Stiller gives] a fine, rivetingly caustic performance....PERMANENT MIDNIGHT is as enveloping as it is darkly cautionary, thanks to the effectively varied layers of Mr. Veloz's direction and the bitter intensity Mr. Stiller brings to his central role..." New York Times - p.E1 - Janet Maslin
"...PERMANENT MIDNIGHT's Hollywood segments are clever and amusing..." Los Angeles Times - Kenneth Turan (09/18/1998)
"...PERMANENT MIDNIGHT extracts a supple performance from Stiller..." Sight and Sound - Danny Leigh (11/01/2000)
