Details

Synopsis Jeffery Archer fictionalizes the life of George Mallory, a mountaineer who disappeared near the summit of Mount Everest in 1924, thirty years previous to Sir Edmund Hillary's famous climb. Although his body was eventually found in 1999, the question of whether he reached the top of the mountain has never been answered conclusively. Archer depicts Mallory as a devoted husband and father, a World War I soldier, and a popular schoolteacher, who simply could not settle into normal life with the specter of Everest haunting him.
