Synopsis
Jance brings together two of her perennial characters, Seattle detective J.P. Beaumont and Arizona sheriff Joanna Brady, in the investigation of the murder of an Arizona artist killed by sodium azide, the odorless, tasteless--and completely unregulated--chemical used in automobile air bags. When it turns out that the artist was part of a witness protection program in Washington State, J.P. and Joanna are forced to work together, and they move gradually from resentment and dislike to attraction.
