Movie Description A dramatization depicting the early days of the Black Panther movement of the '60s and its violent, controversial struggle against racism in America which earned them J. Edgar Hoover's "Public Enemy Number 1" status.
Synopsis Mario Van Peebles based this study of the controversial African-American political group on the book by his father, writer, director and actor Melvin Van Peebles.
The story focuses on Judge, a moderate Black who's outraged at the injustices against his community that he's witnessed. But when he joins the Black Panthers in frustration, the FBI recognizes Judge's innate distaste for violence and targets him as a likely mole. Caught in the middle, Judge bears witness to the excesses of both sides -- the radical left and the reactionary right.
