Synopsis Dealing with a common childhood trauma, OWEN is the story of a toddler-aged mouse who is quite attached to Fuzzy, his yellow security blanket. Owen does everything with Fuzzy, from eating his breakfast, to playing in the yard, to visiting the dentist; a situation that doesn't bother Owen's parents--until a nosey neighbor named Mrs. Tweezers says, "Isn't he getting a little old to be carrying that thing around?" Now determined to separate their son from Fuzzy, Owen's parents do all they can to get Owen to give up his security blanket. Owen, however, outwits them every time. As Mrs. Tweezers continues to provide misguided advice, Owen and his family eventually find a way to solve the "Fuzzy situation" to everyone's satisfaction. Illustrated with watercolor and black ink illustrations, OWEN is a 1994 Caldecott Honor Book., Owen's parents try to get him to give up his favorite blanket before he starts school, but when their efforts fail, they come up with a solution that makes everyone happy.
