Album Notes
Beautifully packaged and lovingly compiled, OUR NEW ORLEANS presents a set of songs recorded in September and October of 2005, shortly after Lake Ponchartrain flooded New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. With the destruction of their beloved hometown fresh in their minds, Crescent City artists such as Allen Toussaint, Dr. John, and Irma Thomas set about making music that directly acknowledges the iconic city, making for an emotional tribute. The mood on OUR NEW ORLEANS is predominantly hopeful, uplifting, and, of course, funky, with Toussaint's new groove-laden rendition of "Yes We Can Can" exemplifying this thoughtful and enjoyable record. All proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity.

Industry Reviews
...The album serves as a gratifying reminder of how valid New Orleans' artistic cotributions were, and are--and why the city and its peole deserve to be saved. - Grade: B+

4 stars out of 5 -- Trad jazz emanates from Dr. Michael White and the Preservation Hall regulars, while lesser-knowns like Davell Crawford and blues veteran Carol Frank almost steal the show.
