Inarguably one of the most important figures in 20th-century American music, jazz impresario Norman Granz introduced live jazz to mainstream audiences with his Jazz at the Philharmonic concert series. This program celebrates Granz's pioneering legacy with a live performance by saxophonist Eddie Lockjaw Davis at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival in 1977. Backed by pianist Oscar Peterson, bassist Ray Brown, and drummer Jimmie Smith, Davis performs classic numbers such as "This Can't Be Love," "I Wished on the Moon," and "Blue Lou."
