Synopsis In this poem inspired by Clement C. Moore's THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS, a group of excited but nervous children prepare for their first real day of kindergarten. Carefully packed backpacks brimming with crayons and teddy bears are readied in anticipation of the big day. When morning comes, various multi-ethnic kids head to school, where they find the delightful Miss Sunshine awaiting them with all sorts of fun activities. Perhaps there was nothing to be nervous about after all! Color illustrations accompany the text., When a group of children prepares for and experiences the first day of kindergarten, the parents are the ones who have trouble adjusting.
