Movie Description
Damion Dietz's NEVERLAND is a dark, modernized, and highly original retelling of the childhood classic PETER PAN. In this version, Peter (Rick Sparks) is a juvenile delinquent, Tinkerbell (Kari Wahlgren) is an alcoholic drug addict, and Wendy Darling (Melany Bell) and her brothers Michael (Marcus Reynaga) and John (STAND BY ME's Wil Wheaton) are adopted children of rich socialites who care nothing about them. Peter and Tink whisk the unhappy Darlings to Neverland, a dilapidated amusement park populated by drag queens, drug addicts, prostitutes, and other fringe dwellers--and run by the sinister Captain Hook (Gary Kelly), a glorified janitor with sadistic sexual fetishes. As Peter slips further and further into his fantasy world and Wendy assumes the unwanted role of surrogate mother-figure to the lost souls of Neverland, Dietz's story becomes a tragic meditation on broken youth and vanquished innocence.
