Album Notes Much of Walker's first studio album of the 1990s has a distinctly autumnal feel. The spare, mostly acoustic backing, gives the singer plenty of space to get reflective. He looks back on lost love in "Navajo Rug," and meditates on mortality in "Blue Mood," which may be the first song in history that references recovering from surgery. Walker then pauses to sing the praises of "Nolan Ryan (He's a Hero to Us All)", the best song about a baseball player since Bob Dylan's "Catfish." Other highlights include the gentle folk of "Flowers in the Snow," and the cautionary "Detour," one of the album's rare flat-out rockers.
