Movie Description A mother (Ann Sothern) and daughter (Jane Powell) compete in South America for the same singing role. Through a routine Hollywood mix-up, they also find themselves vying for the attentions of the same man. Featuring a great number from Carmen Miranda, this is a spirited remake of the 1940 film IT'S A DATE.
Synopsis A lavishly filmed remake of the 1940 Deanna Durbin musical comedy "It's a Date."
Pretty young actress Nancy Barklay heads to Rio after being picked to star in a new play. However, she doesn't realize that her mother, Frances Elliott, also plans to be in that very production. The situation leads to a desperate campaign on the part of both women to land the juicy part... and to win the same man.
Then, a further complication arises when somebody overhears Nancy rehearsing and assumes she's talking about her real life. Soon, everybody's jumped to some wild conclusions about Nancy...
