In NHL FACEOFF 2001, 989 Studios has tapped the power of the PlayStation 2 to convey the true emotion of ice hockey, through intricate details and realistically modeled hockey accessories. Beyond the highly detailed players, the game boasts many other particulars that help bring it to life, such as 3D-animated crowds and realistic player reflections on the glass. Other game features include 30 NHL teams and their arenas, the new expansion teams, a TV-style presentation, and play-by-play by announcers Mike Emrick of the New Jersey Devils and Darren Pang of ESPN.
