Album Notes Mo Boma returns with another disc of steamy cyber-jazz and turgid jungle rituals. This time, the surrealist writings of J.G. Ballard serve as a foundation for the band's seething arrangements and percolating textures. Mo Boma's intoxicating blend of moist, Hassell-like textures and techno-cosmic variations is full of surface tensions, with the feel of chitinous insects constructing lava tunnels crunching underneath. Tracks such as "Slolooblade: The Drowned World" and "Garden of Time" reveal enough instrumental puzzles and unusual sound washes to fill a dozen recordings. There's that much sonic detritus to be recycled, and Mo Boma is the mechanics best suited to do so. MYTHS OF THE NEAR FUTURE is inviting enough to stimulate sufficient interest in what looks to be yet more successive volumes in the series.
