Movie Description Two Kirk Douglas classics are collected here. In MY DEAR SECRETARY (1948), Successful author Owen Waterbury (Kirk Douglas) hires a new secretary (Laraine Day) who becomes disenchanted as she sees that he's more interested in ladies than literature. After numerous misadventures, she leaves him, only coming back if he agrees to marry her. And in 1952's THE BIG TREES, tough lumber baron Jim Fallon (Douglas) wants to take control of a verdant forest valley, where a colony of Quakers (including the lovely Eve Miller and affable Edgar Buchanan) have taken up residence; a battle ensues for control of the towering forest, complete with spectacular scenery and fierce dramatic action.
