Album Notes Buju Banton emerged in the early 90s as the most exciting new voice on the ragga scene since Shabba Ranks. Mr. Mention effectively collects together Banton's early dancehall hits, recorded at Donovan Germain's Penthouse Studio. 'Love Mi Browning' caused some controversy by announcing Banton's love for light-skinned girls, to which he replied with the self-explanatory 'Love Black Woman'. Other cuts defining the dancehall fashions of the moment included 'Batty Rider' and 'Woman Nuh Fret', while 'Who Say' and 'Bonafide Love' featured vocal contributions from Beres Hammond and Wayne Wonder, respectively. The focal point, however, is always Banton's mesmerizingly deep, gruff voice and his sharp DJing skills.
