When it comes to jazz bands, one great one with major longevity was Eastern Rebellion. Based around the core of pianist Cedar Walton, bassists Sam Jones or David Williams, and drummer Billy Higgins, it also boasted a revolving cast of saxophonists including Bob Berg and Clifford Jordan. On MOSAIC (originally issued in 1992), the Rebellion features sax fellow Ralph Moore, a lively hard bop player just starting out. This effort includes sharp, accomplished playing, blues, ballads, swingers, and a bit of bossa nova--all the ingredients needed for a solid mainstream jazz set
