Gr 2-6-A collection of 72 poems illustrated with black-and-white cartoons. It is divided into sections that include verses about parents, sibling rivalry, school, food, tall tales, creatures, and nonsense. About one third of the selections are "Anonymous" verses such as "God Gave Out Noses" and "I See London" and those by children's poets who specialize in sassy humor such as Jack Prelutsky and Shel Silverstein. The other two thirds are published here for the first time, including nine by Lansky himself. Most feature simple rhymed couplets and some suffer from uneven rhyme and meter. Because most of these poems rely on subjects such as underwear, bathroom humor, and body noises for their appeal, they will likely be popular with young readers.
