Album Notes King Kong: Ethan Buckler (vocals, guitar); Amy Greenwood (vocals); Tod Hildreth (organ); Willy MacLean (bass); Dave Pajo (drums). Recorded at Easley Studios, Memphis, Tennessee. King Kong founder and front person Ethan Buckler channels his inner ape in this bluesy, primal urge-related set, adopting a prehistoric persona as he sings and chants a series of songs about getting back to his berry-eating roots, avoiding bears, being cold in winter, and of course, the gnawing hunger of the title track, caused in this case by the Ice Age. The music--just guitar, keyboards, and drums--is as good and as raw as yak meat, with a suitably back-to-basics sound.
Industry Reviews ...Musically, imagine a perverse crossing of the B-52's and the Meters and you'll have a pretty good idea of what's going on here: funky, syncopated beats,....lots of Hammond B-3 organ and goofy male/female narration/vocals by Amy Greenwood and Ethan Buckler...
