Movie Description Distinguishing itself from other variety shows of its time, THE COLGATE COMEDY HOUR alternated hosts from week to week. When this big-budget show first aired in 1950, the original hosts were Fred Allen, Eddie Cantor, Dean Martin, and Jerry Lewis. Appearing on the show at least once a month, regulars Martin and Lewis took turns with drop-in hosts like Phil Silvers, and Ray Bolger. Through subsequent seasons, Donald O'Connor, Budd Abbot, and Lou Costello became regulars as well. Hosting for only one season were big name comedians Bob Hope and Jimmy Durante. By the show's last episode in 1955, only Martin and Lewis remained. Outlasting everyone else, it was these two that really made the show what it was. This set includes some of their best comedic and musical performances in five episodes. Special guests include Polly Bergen, Bob Fosse, and Dorothy Dandridge among others.
