Synopsis

The two met when Cheney's husband hired Wright to design a house, and eventually they would abandon their spouses and children to travel across Europe. By the time they returned to Wisconsin, their affair was the subject of national scandal. Nancy Horan's first novel tells the tale from Cheney's perspective, and shows her to be an independent, free-thinking woman, willing to defy societal expectations to live with the brilliant and problematic Wright.
