Within a few minutes of LOVE IS EVOL, Christopher Titus declares, "After my last comedy special I asked God, give me a new idea for a new comedy special, and God said, `You're getting divorced'." Titus was anything but happy as 2009 dawned; he's emerged from a cycle of dysfunction and anger and alcohol and violence, and LOVE IS EVOL allows him to vent in his grandest narrative style. Titus's comedy is a psychological expose; he's unafraid to explore some horrific crevices of suicide and an abusive and abused existence. It's exhausting, but it's also unique, and revelatory, and cathartic, and pathetic, and quite side-splitting at times.
