Liner Note Author: Bill Friskics-Warren. Recording information: Dogtown Studio, Nashville, Tennessee. Husband-and-wife team Buddy and Julie Miller spent the second half of the 1990s casually defining the alt-country/Americana sound, as documented on this compilation of their first seven years of recording for Hightone Records, both separately and together. Buddy is a quadruple threat, as a frighteningly talented singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer, and Julie bears both a compositional knack and a voice that's alternately earthy and ethereal. An unstoppable team, they tackle twangy swamp-rock, old-school honky-tonk, bluegrass-flavored acoustic numbers, and raw-boned country-rock over the course of this collection without missing a step. What's most striking is the Millers' ability to achieve a gritty, organic sound while still placing every element of both the song and the arrangements in just exactly the right spot. Craft and spontaneity aren't common bedfellows, but they sound just right together on LOVE SNUCK UP.
Industry Reviews [T]his collection does go a long way to demonstrate to the uninitiated why the Millers are so highly regarded.
