The Newsboys were one of the most popular Christian rock bands of the '90s, and their fifth album, LOVE LIBERTY DISCO, finds the rapidly maturing band penning well-crafted songs about the inner self, faith, and sacrifice. The album opens with a pop song replete with psychedelic-sounding guitars called "Beautiful Sound" and continues through to the title track, a funk-flavored '70s blaxploitation-sounding number, complete with funky hand clapping. Some of the other wonderfully written gems on LOVE LIBERTY DISCO are "Forever Man," "Break," and "Fall on You." Don't let the Christian rock label fool you--these cats are amazing musicians, and LOVE LIBERTY DISCO is everything a pop album should be.
