Album Notes Personnel includes: Krishna Das (vocals, ektar, harmonium); Hans Christian (cello, bass); Steve Gorn (bansuri flute); John McDowell (keyboards, djembe, shaker, percussion); Jim Donovan (drums, shaker); Bhima Karma Olrech (khol, cymbals); Girish Gambhira (tabla); Nina Rao (cymbals); Dagger-Ji (shaker); Kirtan Posse (background vocals). Recorded at Mr. Small's Funhouse, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Includes liner notes by Krishna Das. Although Krishna Das has proved to be an accomplished studio musician on albums such as PILGRIM HEART and BREATH OF THE HEART, the double-disc LIVE ON EARTH returns him to his more natural setting, in a room surrounded by the call-and-response fervor of the Kosmic Kirtan Posse. "Radhe Shyam" was originally heard by Das in 1971, when he lived in Brindavan, India and awoke daily to the strains of a blind sadhu chanting en route to the temple. The 12-minute "Samadhi Sita Ram" and "Rama Bolo (Say the Name of God)" both start slowly and mournfully before the room wells over in religious passion.
