Album Notes This 1991 album, Crenshaw's first recording after years recording for Warner Brothers, was sadly lost in the shuffle upon its release. It's truly a fine record, on a par with Crenshaw's earlier classics. This is pure pop--rich and delightful despite an absence of frills. Great songs need a great drummer, and Crenshaw's band boasts Kenny Aranoff, one of the best. He's Crenshaw's not-so-secret weapon, and he adds that extra snap and crackle to the proceedings. Crenshaw's songs unapologetically examine familiar themes of love, loss, and longing. In his hands, such sentiments come off as neither trite nor cliched. LIFE'S TOO SHORT celebrates the human heart, and Crenshaw rejoices in the dazzle and delight of pop music. It's no simple thing to craft an entire album that sounds like its own hit parade. Yet that's exactly what LIFE'S TOO SHORT is.
Industry Reviews Highly Recommended - ...Marshall's punchiest record in years... Spin (06/01/1991)
3 Stars - Good - ...the bespectacled singer- songwriter stays true to the increasingly arcane notion that all you need to rock is a guitar, a handful of chords and a rhythm section ready to make some noise. Rolling Stone (06/13/1991)
