When most guys fall in love, only their families and close friends know how happy they are. With LET'S MAKE SURE WE KISS GOODBYE, Vince Gill lets the whole world know exactly how ecstatic he is. Gill wrote and recorded this album a few months before marrying singer Amy Grant, and he might as well have called it "Vince & Amy 4-Ever." In 11 out of the 12 tracks, Gill celebrates his love for Grant from every angle. In joyous, upbeat tracks like "Feels Like Love" and "Shoot Straight From Your Heart," and in slower tunes like "For the Last Time," "One" and the sexy "Little Things," he describes in detail how her love has healed him, uplifted him and made him a better person. Grant herself joins him in the duet "When I Look Into Your Heart;" she also co-wrote one of the album's standouts, the soulful "Look What Love's Revealing." This outpouring of love only stops for the CD's touching final track, "Hey God," a tribute to the late golfer Payne Stewart. Despite its gushiness, LET'S MAKE SURE WE KISS GOODBYE is a typical high-quality Vince Gill album--just don't listen to it if your love life's not going well.
